Toronto City Council municipal taxes
City council should change the tax rate for lower and higher income businesses. The bigger businesses and non local businesses should have to pay a higher tax amount. The lower income and local businesses should have to pay a lower tax amount. This would increase Toronto’s local business owners income and lead to better living, business, and shopping opportunities to local citizens while still profiting other incoming businesses as well.
Toronto’s small and locally owned businesses are already struggling to survive. There are ways to balance out the taxes to make everyone’s income a little more even. Even parking and green space are diminished as big-box stores move in, and locals are getting little or nothing in return. They are taking over our income and our retail spaces without giving back enough. They can do so by paying higher taxes for sizeable retail space and expansive parking lots and that’s just a start. The additional revenue would mean tax-breaks to local enterprises, increasing chances of success for not just Toronto but Canada. Paul Murton Toronto supports neighbourhood businesses.
